iPhone 5 poses next to iPhone 4 and iPhone 3G

Posted: 31 Aug 2012 09:06 AM PDT

New photos of the iPhone 5 were published today by Nowhereelse.fr and in them, the iPhone 3G and iPhone 4 are shown side-by-side. The upcoming iPhone is noticeably slimmer and taller, while maintaining its width (at least from the 4/4s). The two-toned design is consistent with what we’ve seen previously, though these images don’t provide a view of the phone’s bottom, where all signs are pointing to a newly positioned earphone jack, a smaller dock connector and redesigned speaker grill. It’s certainly interesting to see how the iPhone has evolved over the past several generations, not to mention that for the very first time, it has made the leap to a 4″ display (from 3.5 inches). Check out the rest of the comparison shots after the break.

Buzz Contact receives 2.0 update

Posted: 30 Aug 2012 02:39 PM PDT

savvy apps, the developers behind one of my favorite calendar apps (Agenda), has updated their handy contacts manager – Buzz Contacts - to version 2.0. Infinitely more versatile and useful than the stock phone.app, Buzz lets users quickly access their favorite contacts and perform specific actions, such making a call or Facetime and sending messages or emails (use default messages or create new ones). The update includes theme support, swiping into/out of dialer – a big plus, the all new Frequent and Outgoing groups, the ability to schedule an appointment with a particular person in either Agenda Calendar or Due, and much more.

With the iPhone 5′s September 12 unveiling (and pre-orders) less than 2 weeks away, there’s a good chance that you’re already thinking about selling your old iPhone for some much needed cash. A 64GB iPhone 4S in mint condition will net you $345, while the 32GB model goes for $330. Here’s how you can score that gift card, as per reuse landing page:

Edna & Harvey: The Breakout in Review – Crazy About The Looney Bin

Posted: 30 Aug 2012 07:18 AM PDT

I remember fondly spending a lot of time with adventure games back in the 80s and early 90s when the likes of Sierra Online and LucasArts reigned supreme.  TellTale Games has done a good job of recapturing that magic, as has Bulkypix with their recent release of Yesterday.  Now you can add Daedalic Entertainment to that list with Edna & Harvey: The Breakout.  This adventure game about a young lady and her bunny has humor to rival the best Sam & Max installment, artwork that is quite delightful and some great voice acting.  There is plenty of game play as well, which oddly enough might be its biggest detractor – there's almost too much to do.  Still, this is one nuthouse I don't mind visiting.

Jurassic Park: The Game 2 HD in Review – Not exactly the family-friendly theme park

Posted: 30 Aug 2012 07:10 AM PDT

I think few franchises have ever captured the imagination of the public like the famous Jurassic Park trilogy by Steven Spielberg. Books, toys, even theme parks – the world has seen it all. And even a couple of video-games, though they weren’t really worth mentioning. Until now that is! Telltale has struck again, taking an age-old intellectual property and twisting it in new and interesting ways. As a serialized interactive movie adventure none-the-less.

10 New App Store Games To Watch [August 20 - 26]

Posted: 28 Aug 2012 10:40 AM PDT

My most eagerly anticipated game this week was One Tap Hero.  I got to play this one a while back, and since then have been reall anxious to see it officially released on the App Store.  The title that has really captured my time from this group, however, is The Lord Of The Roads.  This RPG / scrolling shooter hybrid is unique and addictive as anything I’ve played in a while.  And the game in this list that I haven’t had the chance to try yet but am most looking forward to is Olly Low Poly And The Zombie Tower.  Besides the odd yet amusing name, it looks fashionably different and of course I love me some zombie slaying or dodging or whatever it is you ultimately do with them in this game.

One Epic Knight in Review – All We Need Is A Holy Grail…

Posted: 23 Aug 2012 11:22 AM PDT

Okay, you're probably getting sick of reading about infinite running games right now.  Unfortunately, they are sort of my genre-level addiction at the moment, so you'll just have to bear with me until the phase passes on.  At least I'm just trying to share with you the quality titles, and there's no question that One Epic Knight falls under that category.  Brought to us by the folks that designed the creative tower defense game Tiny Heroes the twisted humor of the developers carries on to this offshoot title.  From the opening calisthenics to the nice dent you leave when you collide with a wall, One Epic Knight is all about being epic… epically funny that is.

Switcheasy’s exec folio case in Review – A pretty and uniquely thin case for the new iPad / iPad 2

Posted: 21 Aug 2012 07:00 AM PDT

iPad cases are a dime a dozen and finding the perfect one for your precious iPad is no easy task. Personally, I'd been content with simply using the Smart Cover with my new iPad while at home (and the ZaggFolio with Keyboard case when traveling). Well that was until I'd carelessly dropped the iPad while picking it up, no thanks to the magnetic cover that detaches itself just a bit too easily. Thankfully, the screen didn't crack, though it did get several visible scratches. Needless to say, it was time for a real case, one that provides enough protection and functionality, yet looks sexy at the same time. Meet Switcheasy's exec iPad case.

10 New App Store Games To Watch [August 13 - 19]

Posted: 21 Aug 2012 06:47 AM PDT

This week saw the release of Horn, Phosphor Games' follow-up to their interesting title Dark Meadow.  Horror has been replaced with fantasy, on-rails movement with full 3D roaming, and the graphics have been kicked up a couple of notches as well.  Tread of the Dead is a slightly different take on the whole zombie hunting theme.  Instead of relying on brute force and lots of ammunition you'll have to skillfully cut down the undead hordes with a chainsaw that you toss at them and then control by tilting the screen.  Platform gamers will enjoy Random Heroes, the latest offering from Ravenous Games.  It looks to combine the level design goodness of League Of Evil with the hero and gun swapping craziness of Super Crate Box.
