Freebie Alert: The World Clock now Free for limited time Posted: 29 Aug 2011 09:05 AM PDT Do you travel across different time zones and/or find the built-in World Clock function lacking on your iPhone? If so, you may want to check out The World Clock. Now free for a day (down from $1.99), TWC is a universal app that features alarm functionality, scrollable map with day-night visuals, time converter and a database of more than 192,000 cities/towns from 230 countries. I was first recommended this app several months ago by a colleague of mine and with all the traveling I do for work, TWC has been a trusty sidekick on both my iPhone and iPad ever since. Considering how the iPad doesn’t even have its own stock Clock app, The World Clock is definitely a good pick up at this price point. 10 New App Store Games To Watch [Aug 22 - 28] Posted: 29 Aug 2011 08:29 AM PDT Firemint is back with their first offering post EA acquisition, and it looks like a return to true form. The game is called Spy Mouse, and it's a new line drawing offering that mixes stealth, precision and a bit of cheese. Old school RPG fanatics will definitely be interested in Dragon Fantasy, a game which obviously lends much thanks to the old Dragon Quest games from the NES days. It looks to maintain all the retro charm while being native to the most current iOS devices. On the other hand, if you just can't play an RPG by yourself any more you'd do well to consider Star Legends, the second MMO offering in the Legends series. This time the setting is Sci-Fi, but the game is still free and has plenty of content to offer. Finally, those looking for something a bit different might consider MiniGames Paradise from Com2Us. There are currently only 10 different mini-games to play, but hopefully that will expand rather quickly if Com2Us feels that people are interested in the game. Palm Heroes 2 Deluxe in Review – It’s time to HoMMnify your iPhone once more! Posted: 29 Aug 2011 07:42 AM PDT One of my first ever reviews for TMA was of Palm Heroes Classic, an adaptation of the legendary classic Heroes of Might and Magic 3, for the iPhone. Of course, having been originally developed for Windows Mobile, it had its flaws – mostly on the interface side. Still even in those early App Store day, it offered a unique experience on par with the classic desktop Strategy/RPG. But time doesn't stand still and now almost 2 years later, the developers have released the sequel Palm Heroes 2 Deluxe for iPhone, this time built from the ground up for the iOS. NyxQuest in Review – Play With Your Environment Posted: 29 Aug 2011 06:58 AM PDT Aside from the whole ordeal with building wings and flying too close to the sun, I don't know a whole lot about the tale of Icarus, so I'm not sure how accurate the intro to NyxQuest is. Regardless, it makes for interesting background in a tale with a twist that has you taking on the deity lover instead of the winged goofball. You must navigate the ruins of ancient Greece to find the missing inventor, but your journey will be no walk in the park. This game does violate one of my prime rules of portable platform games: don't make the levels too expansive. That said, it's an interesting affair that should certainly please most discerning platform gamers' palettes.(...) © EricPankoke for TouchMyApps, 2011. | Permalink | No comment | Add to del.icio.us |
