Official Gmail app now available for iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad

Posted: 02 Nov 2011 10:50 AM PDT

Google has finally released the native Gmail app for iOS. No longer will you have to rely on Apple’s own (limited) Mail app or Gmail on mobile Safari. Optimized for the iPhone and iPad, Gmail lets you do many things you’re already accustomed to on the desktop version of the email client. Here’s a partial list of features you can expect:

● Receive notification badges for new messages
● Read your mail with threaded conversations
● Organize your mail by archiving, labeling, starring, deleting, and reporting spam
● Keep track of important messages with priority inbox
● Auto-complete contact names as you type
● Send and receive attachments
● Search through all your mail

As I rely heavily on the Priority Inbox feature on my iMac browser, having it on a native app while on-the-go is fantastic. And the swipe right to view labels functionality ain’t too shabby either. Needless to say, this is a must-download for Gmail users.

Manage your Time on the iPhone with Fathm

Posted: 02 Nov 2011 09:52 AM PDT

The iPhone is absolutely fantastic for the “getting things done” variety of apps. Some of the more popular ones include OmniFocus, Things (TMA Review) and Todo (TMA Review). But what if you simply want to keep track of your day-to-day routine and see what you’re spending your time on most by category? Fathm, a recently released app lets you do just that.

Time management made beautiful and completely personal

If you like to keep track of your daily life, meet a friend called Fathm. See where your time goes and budget to get more out of every day. With the cool interactive Daily Donut and Fragmentation charts you can see the breakdown for each day or a week at a time. Get a handle on your time and let Fathm open the window to a brighter tomorrow, day by day.

Aside from the well designed interface, interactive charts and daily timelines, Fathm is also free for its initial 30 days on the App Store. From what I’ve seen so far, it’s also one of the better time tracking/management tools for the iPhone. Check out the video demo after the gap.

HECTOR Ep3 HD – Beyond Reasonable Doom in Review – It was called Badge of Carnage for a REASON!

Posted: 02 Nov 2011 08:48 AM PDT

In a rare feat of productivity and unlike many other authors of indie episodic adventures, Straandlooper, under the watchful gaze of Telltale, have released the final episode of the Hector series Beyond Reasonable Doom. I have already reviewed both HECTOR: Badge of Carnage Ep1 (TMA Review) and HECTOR Ep2 HD – Senseless Acts of Justice (TMA Review) and personally don't see a single reason not to buy the final episode if you enjoyed the first two. But if you're still in doubt – read on.

10 New App Store Games To Watch [Oct. 24 - 30]

Posted: 02 Nov 2011 08:01 AM PDT

This week felt a bit low-key in regards to new releases, but there were still some decent offerings if you kept your eye out.  On top of the charts is Modern Combat 3: Fallen Nation, the latest in the leading "real war" franchise for iOS devices.  This looks to be the biggest and best yet, with a whopping 13 mission solo campaign and 6 multiplayer maps that support up to 12 combatants.  For people that like their action a bit more 2D there's Zombieville USA 2, the sequel to the game which started the whole side scrolling run and gun genre.  This time around you can slay the dead with a friend, which is always a bonus.  Racing fans looking for something a bit different can take to the water in Riptide GP, a water skiing game clearly inspired by Hydro Thunder and actually developed by the folks that brought Hydro Thunder to the Xbox 360.
