Gameloft holds iPad Games Sale (now $0.99 for limited time)

Posted: 09 Nov 2011 01:10 PM PST

Gameloft is back with another $0.99 App Store deal and this time, 5 iPad titles are currently on sale for a buck. Probably the most desirable from the bunch is Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Shadow Vanguard HD, a superb FPS that supports online co-op and head-to-head multiplayer modes. Also on the list is Dungeon Hunter 2 HD (TMA Review) the sequel to the hit game and one of my favourite hack ‘n slash RPGs on the iDevice. If you’ve got an iPad and several dollar bills to burn, be sure to check out the rest of the Gameloft games on sale after the gap.

Astrid To-do makes it way onto iPhone and iPod Touch

Posted: 09 Nov 2011 12:31 PM PST

Astrid To-Do, one of the most popular todo apps for Android with over 2.5 million users, has recently been released for the iPhone and iPod Touch. This multi-platform and FREE productivity app isn’t as comprehensive as say OmniFocus, but it does all you’d expect from a reminder and checklist tool. Aside from being able to create custom Lists, set Priorities and Due Dates for an event or task, Astrid’s most desirable feature is the ability to share todos with your friends and family via email, Facebook or Twitter. As such, co-workers or friends can rely on Astrid to collaborate on a project, or even something as simple as a shopping list. There’s even Voice Recognition that’ll turn your speech into tasks, so you won’t have to type out the text every single time. From my experience thus far, it’s fairly accurate and should work just fine for simple task entries. Astrid is definitely worth checking out, especially if you require a (social) task manager that also lets you easily share lists and todos with others.

GRave Defense HD in Review – A puzzle hidden underneath hordes of undead

Posted: 09 Nov 2011 10:17 AM PST

Zombies and other types of undead have been among some of the more popular themes in all areas of pop-culture in the recent years – and the App Store is definitely no exception. There are scores of zombie games in all genres – from line drawing to action shooters, and card games to tower defense. Speaking of the latter, it has just been augmented by Bulkypix’s GRave Defense HD.

Apple Store app updated to 2.0, now supports EasyPay

Posted: 09 Nov 2011 08:43 AM PST

Apple’s Apple Store app has been updated and now adds some nifty features for iOS users in the US, namely Personal Pickup and EasyPay:

- Personal Pickup: Buy in the app and choose to pick up your order at any Apple Retail Store. Most in-stock orders are available for pickup within an hour. (U.S. only)
- EasyPay: Purchase select accessories in store quickly by scanning the barcode and completing your transaction right in the app. (U.S. only, requires iPhone 4 or iPhone 4S)
- Track your stuff: View the status of current and previous orders from the order status section in the More tab.
- Additional international support (Canada, China).
- Requires iOS 4.2 or higher

With EasyPay (good for only accessories at the moment), it’s a matter of simply choosing your item, scanning its barcode within the app, and paying with the credit card that’s stored on your Apple ID. This process certainly makes it easier for small item purchases and no longer will you have to wait in line to check out during a busy day at the store. You can see just how simple it is to use EasyPay with an actual purchase made by Engadget below.
