Pop Cap’s Bejeweled now Free via Facebook

Posted: 20 Dec 2011 10:34 AM PST

Apple’s once again giving away a fantastic game for free via Facebook. Two weeks ago, it was Where’s My Water. Now, iOS gamers can grab Pop Cap’s iconic match 3 Bejeweled on the house. The game was recently re-released on the App Store and is based on the best selling Bejeweled 3. The new game mode – Diamond Mine – is toxically addictive and has stolen all my free time over the past week (in case you’re wondering, my high score for this mode is 611,000).

Simply head on over to Facebook with this link, make sure you’re logged in, and click on the “Get your Free App” button. Then, “Like” the App Store and you should be taken to iTunes for the free download. If that doesn’t quite work, look out for the redeem code under “Congratulations”, and manually paste it in the iTunes redeem page. Do hurry though as the offer is only good while codes are still available.

Bejeweled PopCap, Bejeweled, – $0.99

10 New App Store Games To Watch [Dec. 12 - 18]

Posted: 20 Dec 2011 09:56 AM PST

I imagine that those of you that have been following iOS gaming news are expecting me to jump right in and talk about Grand Theft Auto III, but I'm sure there are enough folks spreading the details on that one right now.  I thought I'd direct your attention towards Legion Of The Damned, a turn based strategy game that allows up to four players to participate in brawls on randomly generated or custom made maps.  Hidden object game aficionados will do well to check out Mystery Manor: Hidden Adventure, a free to play mansion exploration game for the iPad that actually has some social aspects integrated into it.  If you're into lifestyle simulations you might consider Venture Towns, the latest offering from Kairosoft or The Sims FreePlay from Electronic Arts.  One takes a broader perspective as you build up a town, while the other lets you get up close and personal managing the lives of up to 16 Sims.  Best of all, the latter offering is free.

Apps Gone Free Roundup: Sentinel 3: Homeworld, Jetpack Joyride and more!

Posted: 20 Dec 2011 08:31 AM PST

With Christmas fast approaching, the App Store’s been seeing plenty of quality freebies of late. Halfbrick, the devs who brought you Fruit Ninja, has dropped the superbly addictive Jetpack Joyride to $0 for a limited time. Aside from its well designed one touch gameplay, the various achievements and purchasable new gear will keep you coming back for more…and more. Also free is Sentinel 3: Homeworld (TMA Review), the third installment in the excellent TD series by Origin8. And if you don’t mind a few ads here and there, Gameloft is now offering the solid hack ‘n slash Hero of Sparta II completely free.

Some of the apps in our roundup will be free until Christmas, though a number of them are only good for a very limited time. Act quickly!
