iPhone 5 rumoured to have 8 pin connector, enhanced Bluetooth 4.0 linking feature in iOS 6 Posted: 01 Aug 2012 12:34 PM PDT Several days ago, Jeremy Horwitz of iLounge dropped some details surrounding the release of the next gen iPhone and other iDevices. Today, their sources have revealed 2 more pieces of info regarding the smaller dock connector and the improved bluetooth functionality that’ll be found in iOS 6. It had been rumoured that the smaller dock connector would either have 16 or 19 pins, though according to these very sources, the new connector will in fact only feature 8 pins – a significant drop from the 30 pins found in the current dock connectors. Moreover, they could potentially be connected like a MagSafe, where the male-end of the connector can be inserted in either orientation. Dead Trigger gets huge update, goes Free on iOS Posted: 01 Aug 2012 10:03 AM PDT Dead Trigger, the gorgeous first person zombie shooter released by Madfinger Games a little over a month ago, not only got a rather significant update, but the game has also gone completely free. It was previously available for $0.99, and it would appear that this is a permanent price drop. As pointed out by IGN recently, Madfinger decided to drop Dead Trigger on Android from $0.99 to free due to an ”unbelievably high” piracy rate. And while the developer has stated on Facebook that piracy rates are much higher on Android, it looks as though they’ve decided to go the “Free-to-play” route on iOS as well. And now, Tin Man Games has released their first licensed Gamebook Adventures app in Judge Dredd: Countdown Sector 106.

Readdle Turns 5, iOS apps up to 70% off Posted: 01 Aug 2012 06:07 AM PDT Readdle, the dev team behind some of my favorite and most used productivity/business apps on the iDevice, has just turned 5 and is celebrating by offering their entire iOS catalogue at up to 70% off. Here’s a quick breakdown of several must have apps: Scanner Pro turns your iPhone and iPad into a digital scanner and is hands down the best I’ve tried to date (now $1.99); Calendars is a great looking and fully featured google calendar client (now $1.99); ReaddleDocs for the iPhone and iPad, an all-in-on file manager that no iDevice should be without (now $0.99); and Remarks, an iPad only app that lets you create notes and annotate imported PDFs (now $0.99). The birthday sale is only good for 48 hours, so be sure to check out the rest of the links below, along with a funky Readdle turns 5 video.
