Infinity Blade 2 lands in New Zealand App Store, US release later tonight

Posted: 30 Nov 2011 10:47 AM PST

The most anticipated iOS game of the year is finally here. The sequel to Infinity Blade (TMA Review), one of the most visually stunning and fastest-grossing apps ever on the iOS platform ($1.6 million in just 4 days) was released earlier today in the New Zealand App Store. Expect even better graphics, more weapons and customizations and 40 new locations.

The God King has been defeated, an unlikely hero has emerged and now you must discover the truth behind the secrets of the Infinity Blade. The continuing journey of young Siris unfolds as you delve deeper into the world of the Deathless tyrants and their legion of Titans. Can you unlock all the mysteries and successfully wield the power of the Infinity Blade in this timeless sword fighting adventure of champions and villains?

The game will still run fine on slightly older iDevices, like the iPhone 3GS/4, iPad 1, and iPod Touch 3rd/4th gen, though iPhone 4S and iPad 2 owners will be able to play the game in its full optimized glory thanks to the power of the A5 chip. Infinity Blade 2 will sell for $9.99 and be available in US/Canadian App Stores later tonight, when the clock strikes 12 (Dec 1st release). The iTunes page for the New Zealand store is now live, however. If you haven’t already done so, check out the promo videos for IB2 after the break.

iFixit selling Transparent Rear Panel for iPhone 4S

Posted: 30 Nov 2011 08:41 AM PST

Fixit, known for their gadget teardowns, has begun selling Transparent Rear Panels for your iPhone 4S. Why would you want to replace the glass-back of your iPhone and expose its innards for all to see, you ask? Well because you can! Installation is extremely easy, and all you need is a Pentalobe P2 screwdriver. Price? $29.99 a pop. If you’re interested in one of these mods, you will have to wait a bit as they’re currently sold out. The good news though is that iFixit is making more as fast as they can, and you can leave your email via the “Notify Me” button to get notification once it becomes available again. For iPhone 4 owners (GSM/AT&T), the rear panels have been out for a good 6 months now, and also go for $29.99. If a see through rear doesn’t quite turn you on, check out Material6′s fine wooden panel replacement. iFixit’s install video after the break.
