“Murder in the living room”, a short note on Apple’s upcoming launch and its unicorn products Posted: 06 Mar 2012 02:39 PM PST While the best of us are busy scrutinizing Apple’s Event invitation for cabalistic symbols and hints on the nature of iPad 3, I'm more interested in what will become of Apple TV and what can happen if Apple gets serious about its hobby. Steve Jobs’ legacy is undeniable – both in innovative products and a company that thinks differently. Apart from thinking, Apple is also good at selling; it's already the world biggest computer and smartphone manufacturer, and the company is growing quickly. What kind of innovation does it have to bring now to sustain such growth? (...) © contributors for TouchMyApps, 2012. | Permalink | No comment | Add to del.icio.us |
iPad 3 release date set for March 16? And will it be called iPad HD? Posted: 06 Mar 2012 10:20 AM PST 9to5mac is reporting that the iPad 3′s release date is set for March 16th, 9 days after the official unveiling planned for tomorrow at the Yerba Buena Center in San Francisco. This comes from a reliable Apple Store source’s info that ”preparations are being made for a big Apple Store event which will culminate on Friday, March 16th”. If you’ll recall, the iPad 2 was first announced last year on March 2nd, and 9 days later, was released on March 11th. So time frame wise, a March 16th launch date is certainly possible, and perhaps even highly probable. (...) © louis for TouchMyApps, 2012. | Permalink | No comment | Add to del.icio.us |
Jetpack Joyride to receive major update in April Posted: 06 Mar 2012 09:03 AM PST Jetpack Joyride, the addictive fly-until-you-die casual game from Halfbrick Studios (Fruit Ninja and Monster Dash), will be releasing next month its biggest and most anticipated update since its launch 6 months ago. This time, to enhance gameplay and add another dimension to the Jetpack experience, scientists at the “Legitimate Research” laboratory will be introducing an array of awesome gadgets, which can be purchased with the coins earned in-game and equipped prior to each new go-around. Some of the gadgets include the “Air Barrys” – sneakers that help make dodging the zappers much easier; X-RAY SPECS – glasses that allow you to see what’s inside those pickup vehicles; and the Free Ride – a free pass to a the motor pool before smashing through the lab walls. In addition, any two of the 15 planned Gadgets can be mixed and matched to create a ton of unique combinations. No exact date has been announced for the update, though when it does arrive in April, it’ll be a free download for those who already own the game. Check out the promo trailer for the “Air Barrys” and PR after the break. 10 New App Store Games To Watch [Feb. 27 - March 4] Posted: 06 Mar 2012 07:29 AM PST I really never thought I'd say this, but this week online games won the most slots in our New App Store Games Roundup. Before we get to that, though, I was extremely happy to see the release of Gamebook Adventures 8: Infinite Universe. Normally I'd tend to relegate sequels to the back burner, especially after this many [TMA reviews], but book 8 takes us in a whole new direction with a Sci-Fi theme and brand new combat mechanics. As for the online games, you can choose to join a gang with Big Gun. While that's not a new premise, the first person shooting gallery style interface is. If you prefer fantasy with a bit of culture there's Monster Arms, a card collecting RTS that takes place in ancient Japan. Finally, the closet geneticist of the group can now prove themselves with Survivium, a game that's all about building viruses and taking over the world.
