Amazon releases Cloud Player for iPhone and iPod Touch

Posted: 12 Jun 2012 12:41 PM PDT

Amazon’s cloud-based music service first launched last year for Android and the web, and now, thanks to the release of the Cloud Player app, it has arrived on iOS. Similar to other cloud storage offerings, Amazon’s Cloud Drive allows you to upload your music, videos, and other digital goodies into the cloud. All users get 5GB free (songs bought from Amazon MP3 don’t count towards the limit) and you can upgrade to paid plans, starting at 20GB for $20/year, all the way up to 1TB for a cool grand a year (all paid plans allow for unlimited music uploads, including your own music).

Steel Media, a leading tech mobile publisher based out of the UK (PocketGamer, iPhone Alliance and Quality Index to name a few), has just released the first ever issue of Swipe, an interactive magazine especially designed for the iPad. The app was built using HTML5 and its content showcases the best that the App Store has to offer. In Issue #1, Swipe gets an exclusive first look at Rovio’s Angry Birds follow up Amazing Alex, along with reviews from sites like Slide to Play, 148Apps, TouchGen (and TMA), as well as an interview with gaming legend David Braben (Lost Winds) and much more. Swipe is available now as a free download (243MB) and well worth the space on your iPad, especially if you dig iOS games. Press release and intro video after the gap.

10 New App Store Games To Watch [June 4 - 10]

Posted: 12 Jun 2012 08:15 AM PDT

Are you ready for another week of iOS gaming?  It seems the mid-year Christmas is over for now, but there were still a few titles worth taking a look at.  While I'm not typically a fan of rhythm games, I checked out the demo version of Mad Acorn and instantly got hooked.  This platform game with a wicked beat is sure to keep you tapping your screen all the way to the end.  Another fun diversion is Frisbee Rush.  The game itself is actually browser based, but thanks to WiFi you control the Frisbees via your iPhone.  If you're looking for something to get the whole family playing, WePad Party 1 just might fit the bill.  The mini-games aren't overly exciting, but the fact that you can play with eight people on the same device at the same time could prove for some amusing situations.

Apple releases the iPad Smart Case – a Smart Cover with a protective back

Posted: 12 Jun 2012 07:25 AM PDT

Amidst all the hoopla surrounding the WWDC 2012 Keynote, Apple has quietly released the iPad Smart Case, an accessory iPad owners have no doubt been waiting for since day one. It’s essentially a Smart Cover, but with a polyurethane hardshell to protect your iPad’s aluminum back. The Smart Case is now available for shipping at the Apple Online Store and priced at $49. It also comes in 6 different colours and you can even get a free engraving on the back of the case. You can now finally ditch that Smart Cover in favour of its newest sibling for the added protection – that is if you don’t already have the Griffin IntelliCase.
